Why Skipsey's

Heavy, stable and ridiculously satisfying to chop on.

Forget light, plasticky boards that slide around. Skipsey's Woodworking boards use dense Australian hardwoods – the same stuff old houses and decks are made from – so every cut feels solid.

  • Reclaimed Australian hardwood: jarrah, spotted gum, blackbutt and friends.
  • 40 mm thick and ~4.5 kg – serious weight and stability.
  • Deep juice groove to keep your bench clean for roasts and BBQ days.
  • Food-safe mineral oil and beeswax finish – no varnish, no weird coatings.
  • Each board is unique. Small-batch, not mass-produced.
The maker

Handmade by Noah, one batch at a time.

Skipsey's Woodworking is a tiny workshop on the Gold Coast. Noah started making boards for family and mates, using offcuts of hardwood that were too good to waste. They turned into something worth sharing.

Every board is measured, glued, sanded and finished by hand. Buying one doesn’t just get you a beautiful kitchen piece – it helps a young maker grow a real craft business.

FAQ

Questions you might have.

How do I care for the board?

Wash with warm soapy water, wipe dry and let it stand on edge to fully dry. Don’t put it in the dishwasher or leave it soaking. Every month or so, wipe on a little food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner.

When will my board ship?

Boards are made in small weekly batches. In most cases your board will ship within 5–7 days. You’ll get tracking details as soon as it’s on the way.

Are all boards identical?

No – and that’s part of the charm. Size and quality are consistent, but grain and strip patterns change based on the reclaimed timber used.

What if there’s an issue with my board?

If your board arrives damaged or with a fault, contact us within 7 days with a photo and we’ll repair, replace or refund. We want you to absolutely love it.
